New York Comic Con: Superheroes and skyscrapers |
A Hero’s Game of Titans
As creatures, superheroes and villains converge upon this concrete jungle, you can almost hear the bang pow booms and heart pounding soundtrack. New York Comic Con never falls in short supply when it comes to imagination and enthusiasm. The costumed attendees spend a great deal of time planning and executing the final product of their beloved characters.
The Hall sisters, Becky and Abby Hall, are avid fans of Game of Thrones. They show their support and love of the roles that make the world of kings and dragons so compelling. Their warm Night’s Watch gear was great preparation for a winter that is coming. They also had an adorable plush direwolf in tow. The female Loki, Rio Santisteban, is a true fan of her anti-hero/supervillain. Taking on a male associated role is the challenge and fun part of the game.
Even a female Doctor Who #10 made her appearance at a Geek Girls Network after party by Kristin Rielly. Nestled among the skyscrapers of NYC, local pubs are the preferred hideaways for the con-worn heroes. Geek Girls Network (http://geekgirlsnetwork.com/) held their after party at ‘Stitch’ with great giveaways and warm welcomes.
One highly anticipated panel brought significant droves of fans, filling the largest theater and parking lot sized waiting area. The 10th Anniversary Special Event of Firefly brought together surprise guests on stage. The crowd was ecstatic to see Nathan Fillion, Jewel Staite and Sean Maher. Tears were in abundance in the audience and Nathan hugged it out, thanking the Science Channel.
As Harlequin remains mischievous and Thor brings down his mighty hammer, the game of ComicCon continues one more day.
