Olympian Runs 5K with Biola President to Fight Human Trafficking

More than 400 people ran in the “Run for Micah 6:8” 5K during Biola Weekend on Oct. 6 in support of Biola University's student led Social Justice Ministry raising $11,570 for the club’s efforts to fight human trafficking and partnership with Chuck Colson’s Prison Fellowship ministry.

Biola President Barry H. Corey ran the race with alumna and 2012 London Olympian Amy Atkinson. After the run, the participants then had the opportunity to meet Amy.

Senior Amanda Andrews, founder of Biola's social justice ministry, and event coordinator for the run was grateful for the support from the local community, Biola students, parents and alumni who ran in the event.

"The support shown at the "Run for Micah 6:8" was incredible," said Andrews. "As I stood behind the starting line, I looked around and became overwhelmed by the strong support for the student led Social Justice Ministry. Volunteers and participants included Biola's Parent & Alumni Association, Prison Fellowship, Dr. Barry Corey, Amy Atkinson, and a great turnout of Biola students. 8 AM on a Saturday didn't stop this energetic group! It was a great morning, and such a blessing to the Social Justice Ministry."
