    Battle of the marching bands

Georgia State University Marching Band 2012 "A Georgia STATE of Mind!"

The Georgia State University Marching Band is in its third year of existence and serves as an integral part of campus life. The Marching Band performs at most Georgia State football games. The GSU Marching Band performs a pre-game show at all home games, and halftime shows at all games they attend. In addition to football games, the band performs at university and community events, as well as high school marching band exhibitions.

Excellence, Energy and Entertainment are the driving forces behind the Georgia State University Marching Band. The goal of the band is to provide high-energy and highly entertaining performances through musical and visual excellence.

This show is entitled "A Georgia STATE of Mind" and includes songs from homegrown Georgia artists, as well as other tunes related to Georgia.

The Georgia State Marching Band utilizes the traditional form of a marching band with brass, woodwinds, drum line and color guard, but replaces the traditional front ensemble or "pit" with a full blown rock band set up in the rear of the field. The Georgia State Rock Band incorporates 2 guitarists, a bassist, a pianist, as well as a drummer on a drum kit. This enables the Georgia State Marching Band to provide with a sound and performance unlike any other with the unique mix of traditional marching band sounds and the rock sounds of the rock band! Get ready to see a unique performance ranging from the powerful builds of "Georgia on My Mind," to the in your face, high energy rock performance of "The Devil Went Down To Georgia." The GSU marching band comes to perform and entertain!
