Do the math: Girls + Education

    Girls + Education = ME

LunaTech is a technology program for girls, run by the Marin ROP Media Center and the Intel Computer Clubhouse of San Rafael. We provide a creative and safe learning environment where young people work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence through the use of technology.

On Oct. 11, 2012, International Day of the Girl, LunaTech took photos and made them into a video response. We talked about why education is important to us and how it will help us achieve our goals. We are currently working on creating "This is Me" video montages and will incorporate these pictures into our stories.

One thing we noticed while talking about educating girls was that many of the middle school girls directly associated being pretty with being smart. This link between self-image (and perhaps self-esteem) and education intrigues us and we hope to explore it further in our "This is Me" video montage.

More information about our program and what we do can be found on our blog: lunatech4ms.blogspot.com
