    Chile: Día de la Raza (Columbus Day)

     

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Ulman shot these photos of the Día de la Raza celebration and parade in Santiago, Chile. "The excitement was contagious. I watch it every year because it's in my neighborhood," he says. "One of the things that stood to me was that it was cross-generational."

    Myself and a friend of mine went to watch the Columbus Day parade here in Santiago..

     

    Colloquially known here as Día de la Raza ("Race Day").
    Formally known as "Aniversario del Descubrimiento de América".

     

    In the last photo people stomped on the Chilean Flag in
    protest against the "Winka" oppression.
    Winkas are the non-aboriginal people of Chile....
