    The siege to the Parliament

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter TTeixeira captured these images of protesters gathered in front of Portuguese parliament in the capital, Lisbon, on a demonstration as the government prepared to reveal its draft budget for 2013, one expected to include stringent austerity measures. "People believed that they could influence the government to give up the rise of taxes," she said. "However, when they knew the Portuguese government had revealed details of its draft budget for 2013, and that it was one of the most severe in the country's recent history, they became more aggressive." Roughly 2,000 people were at the demonstration on Monday, Portuguese media reported.

According to what was planned, citizens and activists gathered in front of Parliament to protest against the new austerity measures. They chanted among other things: " the united people will never be defeated". The protesters became more aggressive when the Portuguese government revealed details of its draft budget for 2013, one of the most severe in the country's recent history.
