Having Heart From Afghanistan
The Reynolds family lives in Little Rock, Arkansas. The iReporter and Jeannie have never actually met, but became close through an online pregnancy forum. She was told Lauren 'was overwhelmed that soldiers overseas cared enough about her to pose. It was a nice surprise to brighten her day.'
- dsashin, CNN iReport producer
Even deployed to Afghanistan, my husband's squad still found time to boost the spirits of my friend's eight year old daughter. Lauren is currently in Little Rock's Children's Hospital awaiting a heart transplant. Lauren's grandfather sent me fundraising t-shirts for every man in my husband's squad. They each cheerfully posed for a picture for Lauren. Additionally, they have all signed a good luck bear for Lauren. My husband, their Squad Leader, posted the picture with the words:
"I try to live my life by the seven Army values. Jeannie, a friend of my wife's had a daughter born on my son's original due date. She has struggled with a bad heart and is currently in the hospital waiting to recieve a new one. Lauren and her family epitomize the Army value of courage. All the way from COP Nagahan, Afghanistan, 2nd Squad, Mortar Platoon, Headquarters Company 2-1 Infantry has Lauren and her family in their thoughts and prayers!"
Never have I been more proud of my husband and the men he serves with!
