The Fallen / Featuring Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings"

As I wandered the Memorial Park for American soldiers and the victims of 9/11 in East Meadow, NY, I was struck as to how many military heros and innocent victims of war there are just here in Nassau County alone. Yet the horrors of war are only part of the story. The real importance lies in the eternal rememberence and love that will always burn in the hearts of those loved ones that were left behind.
The soundtrack is a transcription for synthisizer of the plaintive and haunting modern classical piece, "Adagio for Strings" by Samuel Barber. Taken from the second movement of his, "String Quartet, Op.11," he arranged the piece for a string orchestra in 1939. It is perhaps his most famous work and was featured in Oliver Stone's Oscar winning film, "Platoon," as well as many others.

Dedicated to the memory of Timothy W. Brown
