Kenya Defence Force Day
On October 14 this year, Kenya marked one year since the Kenya Defence Force troops entered Somalia to pursue the terror group Al Shabaab in an operation branded as 'Linda Nchi'.
The day was commemorated as the first Kenya Defence Forces Day.
During celebrations to mark the day, the Chief of Defence Forces General Julius Karangi unveiled a monument in honour of the soldiers who lost their lives on the war front.
