'Trading Dreams' Great New Book By J.L. Morin
Marketing a new book can be quite a tricky business, even if you are an established writer with some amazing credentials like being a Gold medallist in the eLit ebook awards in 2011, as well as being nominated for the Pushcart prize. So it was with great pleasure that I attended an SL launching of J.L. Morin’s new book, ‘Trading Dreams’ at a Second Life poetry event. Ms Morin was there in-world making a guest appearance. Ms Morin has also won Living Now, an award for her Japan novel, Sazzae.
Magic Pathfinder, better known as Any1 Gynoid, one of our most talented CNN ireporters, had sent out the invitations and I was also offered a gift of the eBook, which looks set to be a best seller with its fictional characters playing out their roles in a real life backdrop of the politically dubious Wall Street arena with the Occupy Wall Street movement taking centre stage.
By coincidence I met one of the promoters carlicann (Carl Solutionary) at the Roadside Philosophers meeting the day before. Pamala Clift, who runs the group, has also written a successful book called the ’Virgins Handbook on Virtual Relationships’ So it seems SL is a great place to add another dimension for marketing a new novel.
Carl took the lead at the event, reciting poetry in the middle of a drum circle; I took my place on one of the drums, beating away whilst listening to Carl’s rendition of some magical poetry. Bonchance Longfall and J.L. Morin also read some inspiring pieces.
Carl contacted me afterwards and told me that the SL marketing campaign for J.L. Morin’s work had gone really well, she had 5994 book purchases in 5 days, after only 3 SL events, plus the book is No 1 in Amazon’s Political Fiction section. Ms Morin’s book is a fantastic read. I’m getting my new kindle in a few days time and it will be the first book I download!
You can purchase the book on Amazon
