    Chemical Weapons and Syrian Rebels

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Long time iReporter Sergiom says he would like to direct a question to the U.S. presidential candidates about Syria because of fears the conflict could become a regional war, with Syria's chemical weapons stockpile a particular concern. "It's within the national security interest of the U.S. that such stockpiles of chemical weapons wouldn't fall into the hands of extremist and terrorist groups," he says. "Such an issue should be handled correctly for the safety and security of the American people, as well as the Arab people all over the Middle East and North Africa." Our iReporter describes himself as an 'excited spectator' of the US election campaign.

I’m addressing these questions to both Former Gov. Romney and Pres. Obama. What should be the immediate response of the US Government in case the Assad regime starts using chemical weapons against the Syrian people? Do you believe that the US should directly arm the Syrian rebels?
