Drug check or reality check?
How much energy was spent by so many people in order to cheat and cover up in such a sport. Who were they kidding? Why have we been kidding ourselves in believing that cycling or athletics is clean? The price of the illusion of always higher and faster athletes is that it no longer has a connection to reality. It has become like playing video games were users can "buy" energy, lives, credits.
Why not just accept that the human body has physical limits in what performance is possible? Medicine science knows very well what the range of what is humanly possible. How about coming back to reality and only accept results within this range, maybe with a different setup and type of competitions in order to still keep them exciting and challenging (skills, stamina, etc)?
