    General Strike, Athens

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     meelah101 told me, 'When I arrived in Syntagma, the demonstrators had just been dispersed by the police. Some of the participants were still in the area. In fact, there was a commotion as a group of demonstrators were arguing with the policemen. Some of them also tried to stop vehicles passing through the Square. I could still smell the tear gas which was sprayed to disperse the (protesters).'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

Thousands joined the general strike and rallies in Greece yesterday, Thursday to protest the austerity measures being imposed by the Troika. The rally in the Syntagma Square turned violent.

Photos were taken shortly after the demonstrators were dispersed by the police.
