CNN PRODUCER NOTE packardphoto captured these colorful photos of the Torch Festival in Weishan on August 5, 2010, and says the experience was simply amazing. Describing the mood of the day as exciting, peaceful and welcoming. "My friend who was from Weishan told me it was a great place to go, so my husband and I went there for the festival. As we walked down the central street, locals with a flammable powder would throw this powder at your feet, it was not dangerous or painful. The powder turned flame would go out almost instantly," she says. "Everyone was laughing and smiling. Once all the torches were burned down to almost nothing, people gathered at the main gate and started lighting lanterns to send off into the night sky. All the chaos of the torches was replaced by a calm of sending wishes through the lanterns."
