The World's Largest YMCA Welcomes Fresh Healthy Vending
Fresh Healthy Vending has expanded into the largest YMCA in the world through franchise owner Emily Journey, who has installed two Fresh Healthy Vending machines in to the Lebanon, Ohio, Countryside YMCA, giving the community the option of healthy, natural snacks and beverages such as smoothies, soymilk, fruit, vegetables, yogurt, granola bars, baked chips and natural sodas.
“These vending machines are a great way to offer the community healthier food options tailored to their dietary needs,” said Dan Negroni, CEO of Fresh Healthy Vending. “Teaching kids the importance of eating healthfully and prompting them to make more nutritious food choices is something we believe is critical, especially considering the rise in childhood obesity. This is the 67th YMCA in which we’ve placed a Fresh Healthy Vending machine, and we’re excited to see the community taking the necessary steps to safeguard their children and promote healthful living.”
The Countryside YMCA engages with its members with more than just fitness by offering a multitude of services such as personal and professional growth, learning services and fellowship, and now healthy snacking options throughout the over 218,000 square foot facility.
“At Countryside YMCA we are all about youth development and healthy living. With the expansion of our internal vending products to Fresh Healthy Vending machines, we are supplying healthy alternatives to snacks that many of our children partake in each day,” said Mike Carroll CEO and president of Countryside YMCA. “This expansion, combined with regular physical activity the YMCA supplies, will make significant strides at fighting the epidemic of childhood obesity.”
Emily Journey purchased the vending machine franchise rights from San Diego-based Fresh Healthy Vending, which offers healthier vending machine snacks as an alternative to traditional junk food of sugary drinks and snacks. Inspired to better their own communities, these entrepreneurial franchise owners are dedicated to improving access to healthier snack and beverage options for the area.
The Fresh Healthy Vending machines launching in Lebanon are some of the 1,700 locations throughout North America, with machines in office break rooms, school campuses, shopping malls, hospitals and more. In addition to the healthier vending machine snacks and beverages, Fresh Healthy Vending also produces the Fresh Healthy Café, a vending machine that distributes gourmet organic coffee drinks together with their signature healthy snack options. As of August 2012, Fresh Healthy Vending has more than 150 franchises.
Fr Fresh Healthy Vending touts its vending products as a means to keep minds and bodies in better shape. Their mission is to help eliminate junk food, which is associated with causing obesity, higher absenteeism and higher medical insurance rates.
