What’s your secret spot in Beijing?

    Japanese Car, Chinese Heart

Chinese citizens who have wisely chosen the value and reliability afforded by a Japanese car, are now worried that their once status symbol will be trashed by the angry patriotic mob which has been whipped into a frenzy by the media reports concerning the disputed Diaoyu islands.

Entrepreneurs have come up with a solution in the form of the humble US style bumper sticker. They often have graphics of the islands, Chinese flags, and slogans such as "Even though my car is Japanese, my heart is with China" and "Diaoyu islands are 100% Chinese!".

The fact that I have not personally witnessed any kind of hostility or action towards the numerous Japanese cars around me on a daily basis is a tribute to the growing civilization of this developing powerhouse.

Japanese auto makers faced with declining revenues in China are now offering free repairs and even free health care for anyone who gets their car damaged or personally injured as a result of them owning a Japanese car.

Whether stickers or insurance can make the Chinese public feel safe buying a Japanese car again, is yet to be seen.
