Weekends in America |
Poodle Bar Hopper!
On the weekends, Leland and I go bar hopping at agility trials around Ohio and the Midwest. Leland is a 3 time agility champion. But what makes Leland in agility so special is that he is actually doing it! At 18 months old, shortly after Leland began competing (and bringing home the blue ribbons!) he was diagnosed with Legg-Calve-Perthes Disease (LCPD). This is a very rare condition in miniature poodles. LCPD is when the blood supply gets cut off to the bone, in this case his femoral head. The wonderful surgeons at The Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital performed surgery and Leland is back and better than ever!
At 7 years old, Leland has earned over 40 agility titles (including three championships!) and enjoys playing agility so much he can’t keep the smile off his face! We go to agility trials as much as possible-it is our favorite activity together! Leland would love to meet his namesake, Leland Chapman the Bounty Hunter someday, too!
Leland is also proof any dog can do agility-find a club near you and start classes! As you can tell from the smile on Leland’s face, this game is F-U-N!
