    Competition in Colombia

After living in Colombia for almost two years, I have noticed a large amount of Chinese investment and Colombian consumerism of Chinese made machinery and automobiles. This growth is based largely on the fact of that Colombian wages are low and it is a convenient solution to purchase Chinese made products.

Furthermore, while running a marathon last month in Medellin, Colombia, I noticed several Chinese car dealerships and substantial Chinese auto penetration in rural Colombia. I could not help wonder during the 26.2 miles, with the USA so close in proximity and the new Free Trade Agreement signed, how can we compete and succeed in these emerging and growth markets against countries such as China?
