Carnival inside a Cemetery: a different way to celebrate Halloween
jackytoong says that it’s the first time he’s ever heard of a carnival being held in a cemetery during “Undas”, the Filipino version of Halloween, which normally entails going to the cemetery to pray, light candles, commemorate and bring food to the dead.
“They will have quality time with families by means of small reunion, a little picnic and a little chitchat, and over the years the tradition stays the same,” he said.
“The locals are very positive about it, because they’ll have a place to go and enjoy after they pray for their love ones and a place for their bored kids. But if you’re going to ask my opinion, it’s intriguing because it’s a creative way to have quality time together with their families during this Halloween season.”

It’s a tradition in the Philippines to celebrate the Halloween by visiting the graves of their loved ones. A lot of families practice this tradition; but not every member of the family can appreciate it. Every year has been so crowded by people and kids running around the place. That’s why a cemetery at Balanga, Bataan-PHILIPPINES came up with an idea to lessen this situation by having a carnival inside.
The said carnival will lessen the kids running around the cemetery that may disturb those who are praying for their love ones, and to have a quality time with the people who were still with them.
Kids may chose from carousel rides and different kiddie rides and the adults may also ride the bumper cars, Ferris wheel, mini coaster rides and the Halloween favourite, “the Horror train”. The carnival opens at 6pm and closes at 12pm, and said to stay until the end of the Halloween season.
This activity will surely give you a different meaning of the phrase “Happy Halloween”.
