This iReport is part of an assignment:
U.S. election: Your global views |
What is a country?
Our country, as well as so many others, are nothing more or nothing less than national corporations. That is they need moeny and are in the business of making money. Keeping this in mind then one would tend to think that we should do things to make money.
Of course we need the military to protect national interests, we need to be charitable to care for global interests that at some point int eh future may prove to be to our colective benefit , politcally or economically. We neede to culture friendships across the world so we won't be locked-out of possible benefits in the future and to remain "noble" in the sights of other nations around the planet...again with the propect of possible socio-economic yields in the future...
But it seems that so many think that a nation is something else. Something that it is not. When the original settlers of the United States seperated from their European ties it was for nothing less than being taxed...for nothing and of course those in Europe were taking unfair advantage of our ability to cultivate profitable products for our "friends" across the "pond".
It was called a "Tea Party".
So when all i said and done at the end of the day the election so select the candidate that will guarantee the economic security nationally as well as internationally. Only when we are secure economically will we be able to deal with matters such as women's rights, medical coverage/insurance, etc. Without the $$$ we might as well write off everything else because we won't be able to afford those luxuries.
