Youth need support to attend College
Rehearsals for the 2nd Annual Benefit Concert in support of the 2013 Black College Bus Tour is underway. The Chorus is exclusively comprised of African American Men. For so long there has been little done to celebrate the accomplishments of Black Men, especially as it relates to our support of Black Youth. The 2012 Benefit Concert held last year was an overwhelming success. Due to the huge participation of those involved we were able to support several Black College Tours in the area, Step Higher organized by Janelle Hocker and the Cincinnati Black College Bus Tour organized by Mrs. Madison and Mrs. Tuggle. Through the efforts of these men, the 100+ African American Men’s Chorus was able to send 13 students on the Spring Black College Bus Tour and 17 students on the Summer Black College Bus Tour. Our goal for 2013 is to double if not triple our last year’s number of 30 high school students, that with our assistant were given a chance to go on those various College Tours.
Black College Tours are successful because they foster and encourage our youth to have a greater pursuit for higher learning. We are asking for all Male Chorus/ Quartets, Soloist and Men’s Choirs to come together in the ‘Spirit of Unity’ to support our Black Youth in this Benefit Concert.
The concert will be held Sunday November 25, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. at Allen Temple, A.M.E. Church located at 7030 Reading Road Cincinnati, Ohio 45237, where Reverend Dr. Alphonse Allen Jr. is the Presiding Pastor.
We would be pleased if all men would join us in this united effort to present one voice to the Glory of God as we edify our Black Youth.
