    Train Accidents in Cameroon

Train accidents have been a daily occurrence these days in Cameroon,West Africa yet you will never find any sensitization Billboards or any adverts on State TV cautioning the poverty stricken masses who live along the train tracks and at times take the risk of jumping on to passing by trains to travel to areas located within the railroad. Most Africans are illiterate and don't take anything seriously as an approaching train to some is like "Kids Toys" and will move along the railroad unperturbed. Some have even deviced means of transporting farm produce with home made train-like cars that are fitted with wheels that fit unto the train tracks. But blame should also be put on the government because there are intersections where cars and trains bypass in Residential areas yet they do not have traffic signals or anything.I recorded this video on the 21-10-2012 in a neighborhood (DAMASE) in the State Capital Yaounde.Five persons died on the spot as a freight carrier with about 13 cars crushed an unmarked Toyota Carina E.Alot needs to be done to sensitize the masses but this needs to be tackled from many fronts.
