Light Years: Your view of space and stars

Meteor in Milky Way & red and green auroras

On October 20th the night sky was cloud-free, a rare treat during this autumn. Aurora forecast was very low, so I decided to shoot some pictures of the Milky Way in hope to get catch some meteors.

My friend tagged along and we found a good spot near Haukipudas, Finland. The only 'problem' I had were the faint urban lights on the right. Or so I thought, because actually they were red and green auroras!! Imagine how happy I was :)

Passing right through the Milky Way was a meteor probably from the Orionid meteor shower, debris from Halley's comet.

Seeing all these wonders not made by us humans makes me think just how tiny we really are..
