The Colorado Rail Road Museum, located in Golden Colorado, is the accumulated dream of a number of men. Their dream and hard work, is a gift everyday when a visitor is able to get up-close and personal with a real honest-to-goodness Iron Horse.
Growing up in Golden I can remember riding then driving past a piece of ground where a number of obsolete trains were. The seemed abandoned left to rust....but there was a plan afoot to create an honest to goodness Train Museum. And so ...they did. It operates today with the same powerful presence that inspired the creation of the museum in it's conception.
The inspiration that the museum gives is presented to young and old alike. The education coordinator Steve Lee came to the museum after a long and successful career in education. He loved trains and now gets to work part-time at the museum. He is a delight and greats each person with the warmth and enthusiasm that he has for the trains. Imagine going to work everyday doing something you genuinely like to do and ....getting to wear overalls.
What Steve passes on is a wonderful history and a sense of awe to each of those he inspires to experience the past.
