SCOPE Miami 2012 - The Red Bull Curates: Canvas Cooler Project

After a year-long nationwide series of competitive gallery showcases, the winners of the Red Bull Curates: Canvas Cooler Project are gearing up for a career-boosting opportunity to exhibit and sell selections of their own works during a group show at SCOPE Miami -the premier showcase for international emerging contemporary art which runs concurrently with Art Basel Dec. 4 - 9, 2012. SCOPE Art Show will be located at 110 N.E. 36th Street in Miami's Midtown Arts District. For additional information visit http://redbullusa.com/curates.

"With it's Canvas Cooler project, Red Bull Curates has done a tremendous job of unearthing some of the brightest emerging talent from around the country; SCOPE is excited to provide a platform for these young artists to gain worldwide exposure for the incredible work they are creating." - Daria Brit Shapiro, Curator, SCOPE Art Show

The 2012 Red Bull Curates: Canvas Cooler project paired emerging artists in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York with local venue owners to create custom and functional pieces of art which are now on permanent display in some of the hottest bars, lounges and restaurants in each city. Artists were handpicked and given a one-day challenge to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art. The masterpieces were unveiled to the public in a one-night only local exhibition where gallery patrons and an esteemed panel of judges voted for their favorite pieces ultimately awarding 10 artists the coveted invitation to exhibit at SCOPE Miami 2012.

From street artists to skilled muralists, each winning artist from the Red Bull Curates: Canvas Cooler Project brings a unique style and point of view to their first showing at SCOPE art fair. Representing New York, Gerardo Cid, L'Amour Supreme, CLAW MONEY and Kosbe will show their inspired collections alongside Chicago-based artists GOONS, Hebru Brantley and Don't Fret; and Los Angeles artists Gregory Siff, Lydia Emily and Hans Haveron.

The curatorial panel of judges who participated in the 2012 project include contemporary pop artist Ron English; Daria Brit Shapiro, of the internationally renowned SCOPE Art Show; Carlo McCormick, Senior Editor of PAPER Magazine; Candida Alvarez from the The Art Institute of Chicago; Robyn Farrell of the Donald Young Gallery; actress Taryn Manning, skateboarder and musician Chad Muska, artist Domingo Zapata, and producer/director Jon Reiss.
