    Why are you an independent?

    More from omekongo

No one political party can confine or define me!

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Longtime iReporter omekongo has always voted Democrat, but explains that he’s always identified himself as an independent. 'No one political party can confine or define me,' he said. 'I’ve never identified as a Democrat, Republican or a Green Party. The only reason I’m a registered Democrat in D.C. is because you have to be registered for one of those parties to vote,' he said. 'I am an independent voter because I believe in individuals over parties. I believe in looking at the person and not how they identify themselves.' Are you an independent? Share your story here.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

I am an independent voter because I enjoy being a free thinker and not feeling like I have to represent a party line all of the time. No one political party can confine or define me.
