OBAMA LOCAL VOLUNTEERS INVITED COMMUNITY TO MARCH & BARBEQUE

President Obama’s local campaign volunteers announced a community event on Sunday, October 21st, 2012. Participants took part in a Motivational Rally, March, and Fun Day, all aimed at increasing local voter turnout. The rally began at 5:00 pm at Waycross City Hall, 417 Pendleton Street, and followed the route of the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade.

At the end of the march, participants enjoyed a barbeque and other activities at 6:00 pm at 1300 Bailey Street Park, across from the Ware County Board of Education. Music was provided by a local DJ, and bounce houses were provided by another local citizen. Both individuals gladly donated their services for the cause.
March participants were eligible to participate in the Fun Day Basketball Tournament (Hoopin’ for Obama), and earned the chance to receive prizes. All were able to enjoy the activities at the park. Those who produced voter registration cards were eligible for other prizes.

Roughly, the event attracted a few hundred attendees, including Lesli Messinger and her staff. Lesli is currently running for United States Congress - 1st Congressional District of Georgia. She marched with the citizens, mingled with the crowd, and gave a rousing speech that told why she is trying to defeat Congressman Jack Kingston.
Other speeches included words from event organizers and local Pastors, before the festivities came to a close. All in all, the community and event organizers considered the event a major success.

Event organizers included Mesiah Porter, Jr., Dr. Yolanda Rivers, Rev. Fer-Rell Malone and several other members of the Southeast Georgia Obama Headquarters and the Ware County Democratic Committee.
