Republicans: The 'Rape is OK' Party?
Republicans: The 'Rape is OK' Party?
Yet again the Republican Party and its members demonstrate their true feelings about rape, should abortion be a consideration from the consequence.
From Republican's claim by Todd Akin that "The Female Body Has Ways to Shut That Whole Thing Down" when referring to becoming pregnant after a rape, to yesterday's claim by Republican Richard Mourdock, running for U.S. Senate in Indiana that a pregnancy resulting from rape is God's will.
Finding himself is a terrible situation seemingly defending rape itself if pregnancy results from the illegal activity Mourdock sought earlier today to explain that he is not in favor of, or defends rape, but that the pregnancy is legitimate because it's "God's will".
Which of course brings into question how God (whichever God you believe in) could have his will imposed for a pregnancy, but for some reason can't have this same will imposed to avoid the rape.
To Mourdocks, his God is either powerless to impose his will to have woman avoid the rape ('the evil') to begin with. Or, his same God doesn't care what method is used to make a woman pregnant (rape, incest, whatever) just as long as his will of pregnancy is delivered.. This is what Mourdock is saying at the end of the day.
It is of course an absolutely absurd claim. Not to mention making himself out to be a person that uniquely is qualified to interpret his God's will and no one else really is that doesn't see his way of thinking, and even most of those who do.
So, either Mourdocks' God is completely powerless, impotent to help woman avoid rape, doesn’t care if rape is the method of pregnancy, or Mourdock is simply using the whole absurd claim as cover to a separate agenda to make abortion illegal regardless of how the pregnancy occurred.
Even the most simple minded of peoples could reason that God's are supposed to be powerless and impotent.
So, it must be a power Republicans seek to force woman to see their pregnancies to term, regardless if the baby belongs to a rapist, the woman's father, brother or cousin or anyone else, just as long as abortion is illegal and woman are forced to do what the 'state' and the Republican Party tell them they can and cannot do with their own bodies.
Most disturbing is Mitt Romney supports this man and his views, and so does the entire Republican Party behind the scenes.
