There are many reasons to be an independent, we all can think of them. Mostly, it's about being open to facts and analyses and not about rhetoric. Being said, this season is extremely evident that the facts and studies are on the side of the democrats, especially when it comes to economic policy...something too many people have been duped into believing that Romney actually comprehends the situation.
Don't take my word for it though. The best person I've seen explain all of this is Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman, who makes this extremely clear. I encourage EVERYBODY to look him up on Youtube, a good interview he recently did can be found here:

He also comments especially on evidence for why Romney has little idea of what he's doing, what he's getting into and what he will do.
I would LOVE to see the Dems use this guy in commercials to talk to the American public, it's exactly what everybody has been asking for...the truth.
