This iReport is part of an assignment:
Nancy’s Radar |
Justice For Shelby Harmon
The story is that she was dating a controlling, abusive guy- he was the type that wouldn't let her wear make-up, decided what she could wear, what friends she could have, put distance between her and her family so that she wasn't telling them what was going on.
She decided to break up with him Saturday. From what I have read (this is the family's perspective, I haven't seen a police report- many are accusing the police of doing a terrible job of investigating, which is the big issue), a t-shirt was found in the driveway that is believed to have been used to choke her. He had her car blocked in, so she took off on foot. He chased her in her car and ran over her a few times, then, per some hunters who were nearby but apparently didn't realize it was a human in the road, sat on his tailgate and watched two other cars hit her.
The EMT that arrived on the scene apparently did a very detailed report, but apparently the sheriff's dept. didn't really take this into account. They did a poor job in investigating the house, not taking the freshly washed clothes he'd managed to get in before 911 was called. They left pieces of her skull out on the highway. Etc., etc.
I hope I'm reading some exaggerations, but if true this is pretty upsetting to me. There was a lot more, but I've forgotten as I'm semi-studying. I'm just sickened right now. This kid apparently has a history of these things, and thankfully others are coming forward now that will help in prosecuting him. I've read a few people noted that he used to beat his mother, and other related incidents. As of now, he is already out of jail. Also, this guy had taken an insurance policy out on his truck for full coverage medical pay and bodily harm the day of her death.
Praying for justice. There's been a big push today because none of the local news stations had even reported on it, but apparently several are not because of repeated calls to them.
