'Mr. President' comes to Dayton OH

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     twotoms attended a rally where President Obama spoke to a crowd of more than nine thousand people in Dayton, Ohio, on October 23. He says when capturing this photograph of the President, he was struck by the level of connection people displayed at the rally. 'Obama and the people reaching out, connecting to each other -- that touched me,' he said.

‘Mr. President’ came to Dayton, Ohio-October 23rd, 2012. After publishing my pictures of the event, one picture got one comment or liked after another.

Carla commented—‘Ooohhhh! Wish everybody could "feel" this, especially the Republicans that "hate" Obama...they can at least see your photo and know that he has brought much excitement and joy to thousands in the Dayton area for years to come! Never seen that so much in any other President in my lifetime!! Your able to show that in your picture!! Wonder whose hands those were and would be thrilled that you took a picture!!

The only reply I could think of, ‘they are the hands of hope and promise---the hope that the hate will stop and the promise of peace and a better tomorrow’. Covering Obama since 2008 and many other political hopefuls over the years, only with Obama do I get a clear and simple sense of his connection to the people. One may not agree with some of his policies or priorities, but the general comments are he is ‘our’ president not ‘the’ president. One can get a sense of inclusion and understanding not some parental scolding.

Even the First Lady refers to him as Barack and not ‘Mr. President’. There is an ambiance of mutual respect and admiration.

It has, to say the least, been an interesting political season.
