    The 2 party system has not been functional for years. Many peope grow up in a family that votes a certain way and are under the infuluence of that "prejdice". I think the parties should have to earn your vote. If each member of congress and the senate were acting independently for the good of their constituants, there would not be the gridlock we are in now. If people were not affiliatd with a party, they could look at each candidate for their own merits and not the prejudice they grew up with or the general impressions imposed by the media or the parties themselves.
