    Why are you an independent?

Give "The Sane Middle" a voice

The two party system is at the root of most of our problems. At a recently accelerating pace both Democrats and Republicans have purged their ranks of moderates, from around 30% just a couple of decades ago to less than 10% today. They control a skewed electoral districting process that encourages polarization and protects incumbents, and powerful special interests punish those that step out of line. Worse, candidates are chosen by the party faithful, campaign to the middle, then govern from the fringes.

In short, we live in a society where the 10-15% at the far left and far right are severely over-represented in Congress, while those of us who lean a little left or a little right have next to no representation. Basically, the “sane middle” is left out in the cold every time.

The solution? 1) Congressional term limits, and 2) districting that is blind to party, wealth, race, etc.

How do we get there? I’m not sure, but we can start by voting third party, especially in non-swing states where our votes otherwise have no impact whatsoever.
