National Historic Landmark in Maine About to be Destroyed Forever
Maine's Waldo-Hancock Bridge, a 1931 David Steinman-designed suspension bridge, is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is scheduled for demolition to begin on November 1, 2012 and last for several months. Many individuals and groups have voiced their desire to preserve the bridge as a pedestrian bridge to no avail.
