Election 2012: Your stories |
Perfect Storm Could Hit the US on Election Day
Nary a peep about climate change during this campaign season but nature has a way of barreling through the discussion and letting her influence be felt. They are describing Hurricane Sandy as the "Perfect Storm" that may parallel the perfect storm of 1991 with one difference: this one might hit the East coast dead on. Hang on to your hats.
Now you deniers may look at distant history and prehistoric records and contend that this is not unprecedented. You might say it has nothing to do with human activity. Say what you will, the weather events are getting more brutal each season it seems. What next?
We shall see.
Climate Change is a very real threat and it has the capability of causing the economy to collapse. Ignoring the cause and effect of our energy use is a very dangerous thing. But that is exactly what we have done. We've villainized scientists and climatologists who warn of coming disaster. We pick apart their theories. We listen to "experts" who have been paid to proliferate doubt and discredit them.
And intelligent people have chosen to use this doubt to advocate for increasing our development of fossil fuels. Or they are willing to go along with Mitt Romney's plan to increase domestic production of all the energy sources that scientists claim got us into this mess. I say if you think we should give this plan a try then you are culpable in the collapse that I think is inevitable. If you don't think so then I contend you haven't done proper research.
People. It's your choice. Follow the path of least resistance or make an effort to try to reverse the damage we've done. For the future.
It's not a difficult choice if you are concerned for our future generations.
If you are anywhere on the East coast where this mother of all storms is approaching please consider moving inland. Please do whatever you can to stay safe.
Good luck!
They are saying the storm could land on Election Day. Imagine that?
The Maya are starting to look more credible every day. :/
