CNN Fit Nation: 2013 Triathlon Challenge

Mom of 3 on a Mission

Hi there! My name is Katie Orth. I would love the opportunity to be considered for the CNN Fit Nation. By day I am a busy. mom of three boys. The twins, Gage and Cole, are six, and my youngest, Jonah, is three. Jonah has autism and although he can be a challenge his determination is inspiring. My husband, Brent, is a firefighter with long hours. I work in children and family ministries - the best nb in the world. By night I am a full time college student graduating this semester with my undergrad degree in psychology.

A few years ago I took a really long, hard look at my life and gave myself some goals. The first ews to finish college and, and as my grandmother says, if the good Lord's willin' and the creeks don't rise, I will graduate at the end of this semester.

My other goal is to get myself in shape. Sadly that has gotten worse, and even my cholesterol is starting to show. I need help.

I just finished a study with the youth I work with by John Ortberg called "The Me I Want to Be". The study encourages you to recognize your gifts and to search and go for your dreams. Ortberg says not to ask for easy or manageable, but to follow your dreams to the uncomfortable mountains. This is my mountain. I don't want to be something new. I want to be a better version of me - the me I want to be.
