Jax Hats made from ugly sweaters

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     jaxhats has always had a flare for creating, she learned how to sew at age six and from there she has been creating cool and unique items. She has received tons of positive feedback after starting her company, Jax Hats. She says the business is booming and many of her customers have returned to buy hats for family and friends. Currently her hats are selling in Montana, Oregon, Canada, San Diego and online.
    - Jamescia, CNN iReport producer

I started a home based business 5 years ago when my husband was laid off by making hats from upcycled sweaters. As the business started growing, I taught him how to sew and now he and I work together designing new hats daily. Our business has doubled each year, replacing his income and finally allowing me to quit my day job this summer and build our business. Jax Hats was named for me because my friends call me Jax. All of our hats are made in our home from various clothing that we obtain through yard sales and thrift stores. We sell them every Saturday from May to October at a local downtown Missoula, MT Saturday market and through 15 Montana stores plus many craft shows. My 2 daughters have "franchised" Jax Hats in both San Diego and Portland and my dream is to grow into other states spreading the love and saving the world from ugl sweaters with with Jax Hats!
