Making it in America: Mompreneurs |
Poppy makes a Pop!
One of my articles was focused on a party I had thrown the week before, all based around Pinterest: my guests were asked to bring the materials necessary to make a DIY craft, found on Pinterest. When the guests arrived, they were treated to Pinterest Inspired foods and Pinterest inspired drinks. Halfway through the party, we exchanged the gifts—white elephant style.
Here’s where it gets interesting. CBS This Morning caught wind of my party, via my article. They contacted me shortly after the article had run and asked if I would be throwing another Pinterest Party that they could film. Needless to say, two weeks later Lee Woodruff and her news crew were in my kitchen, filming me as I “did my thing”—cooking, designing and setting the scene for a perfect party. Here’s the link: http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7403678n
Throughout both parties, and even during my own children’s parties, it was suggested to me to get into the business of party planning/ event design. I had always considered it to be a fun idea—but never had the
courage or confidence to do it on my own.
That is, until one day.
I “opened” Poppy Event Design on September 12, 2012 and have successfully thrown/ designed/ planned multiple parties-- and the list continues! I’m busy planning children’s parties, baby showers, anniversaries, surprise parties, Halloween parties and Christmas parties. Lucky for me, the area I live is an untapped market for this type of business—and even luckier, the moms love going ALL OUT to impress their kids and friends (who doesn’t, right?!). It’s a win win situation!
