    Aurora Borealis in Northwest Alaska

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JLA99 photographed this striking image of the Aurora Borealis in northwest Alaska, on October 6. He has been traveling in Alaska for two months and has been able to capture the many beautiful images that Alaska has to offer.

    'To create this kaleidoscope of color the sun's charged solar particles must ignite the earth's magnetic lines. It's a galactic event and one of pure grandeur and beauty. Even more rare is witnessing them so bright and full of color,' he says.

    'Local Natives were whispering into my ear that they had never seen such an amazingly bright and expansive display of the Northern Lights. This particular night is considered a twenty year phenomena and one that I will remember forever. '

    This photo reveals the phenomenal Aurora Borealis north of the Bering Sea and along the Arctic Circle. The constantly changing kaleidoscope of colors are reminiscent of a fireworks display but without sound. All we hear is the quiet peaceful sounds of a freezing Alaskan night. We see a grand apocalyptic display in the sky that makes the viewer feel an awe-inspiring love for planet Earth.
