    President Obama in Dayton

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     twotoms attended a rally where President Obama spoke to a crowd of more than nine thousand people in Dayton, Ohio, on October 23. He says when capturing this photograph of the President, he was struck by the level of connection people displayed at the rally. 'Obama and the people reaching out, connecting to each other -- that touched me,' he said.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

President Obama stops in Dayton, OH October 23rd, 2012. His arrived a half hour past the announced schedule time. VP Biden warmed up the gathering like some carnival barker before the President addressed the crowd. Fresh from the last debate, he was energetic and animated, sharing the points he made from last nights performance. He encouraged everyone to look forward and to be patient for better times are close at hand. Thanking VP Biden for his support and four years of faithful service, President Obama addressed the crowd. There were approximately 9,500 in attendance and security slowed entry down. Some left work early, students signed out of school to ‘see and hear’ the president. In some respects one would sense attending an old time revival. The weather was good making the four hour wait easier. The bottom line the rally demonstrates we have more in common than differences that separate.

The President stressed that this election there are two philosophical choices of the electorate. The President is working with an integrated fix of a severely broken economy. The condition left by the Bush administration. One may not agree with some of his policies or priorities, the direction is moving to resolution. It boils down to it’s the ‘economy stupid’. After two years of campaigning and a total expenditure of over 1 billion dollar on political messages it is not certain what Romney offers. Much of the time and effort is dealing with non-issues issues. Talking points of Big Bird, ships, horses, and bayonets goes over the top compared to the wholesale housing foreclosures. Again it is the economy stupid.

The president is stuck many times with the harsh reality of what is at hand to work with. The challenger has the advantage of playing ‘Monday morning’ quarterback. The campaign is a duel more of what others say, statements taken out context, or just plain revisionism vs. dealing with a comprehensive program to solve the problems. How about being an honest broker of information? Again it’s the economy stupid.

NEITHER candidate addressed the needs and issues of community. Yes, attention is directed to Wall Street, the auto industry, and the banks are bailed out BUT what is being done for the local and regional governments. We still have people that go bed hungry every night. Social services crippled by working with reduced funding. Police and fire departments are still working understaffed. We have schools operating under financial and academic watch.

Maybe after November 6 we can settle down and work on the problems that face our communities. You cannot achieve the community you want until you learn to live in the on one you have.

    It’s the economy stupid
