    Tsunami - West Maui

I'm in West Maui about five miles north of Lahaina. The first sirens went off about a half hour ago.

My wife went into town to pick up our son. She said the gas stations and grocery stores are jammed. The tourists are doing their best Chicken Little impressions.

Based on past experience, the wave will pass us by, bounce off Molokai and Lanai and cause some surges that could last for over a day.

After the last one the Lahaina Harbor saw its level change about eight feet every 20 minutes.
