CNN PRODUCER NOTE     jonamacpro is a resident of Long Island, New York, and he has been preparing for Hurricane Sandy. He says the winds are picking up in his area. He tried to tuck and tie down things in his yard so they would not fly around during the storm. 'You can tell things are not normal,' he said, explaining that the tides around his area are much higher than they usually are. Despite the deteriorating weather, he says he is prepared for the storm. 'We went through this with Irene last year, and we didn't have power for 5 days, and the power company contacted a lot of Long Islanders this week to expect to be without power for 7 to 10 days,' he said. 'We are all a little nervous,' he said. 'But even if it doesn't turnout to be that big it is better to be safe than sorry.’
