    Sandy churns up NC coast

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     ESwitzer photographed rough waves off North Carolina's coast as Hurricane Sandy moves closer to shores. She reports the Carolina Beach fishing pier was closed due to waves topping 12 feet. She says heavy surf, wind, rain, and dangerous tides are having a heavy impact on the beaches there.

    Hurricane Sandy created minor localized flooding and dangerous surf conditions along the Southeastern North Carolina coast over the weekend.
