'Superstorm' Sandy: Your stories |
Frankenstorm Meets the Chesapeake Bay The Beginning
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
We took one last food and supply gathering this afternoon at Pax River Naval Station. After going into the commissary we braved driving down to the base beach on the Chesapeake Bay. This is our favorite beach to take the grandchildren to in the summer and usually a very calm and peaceful surf. Although it has been very overcast all morning, it had just stated to sprinkle when we arrived By the time we were leaving the rain was pounding the car. The sea very angry, the waves were tearing at the shoreline. I mostly video taped from the car but did get out for as moment or two and had a hard time holding my own. We made it safely home but know this is only the beginning of several scary days ahead.
We are under a state of emergency. shelters are set up in several of the high schools. There are even special shelters set up for animals and some allow you to keep your pet with you. I must say I was very pleased to see this.
Sure pray everyone stays safe, dry and warm The temperatures are dropping fast.
