Free Eye Camp & Surgery In Western India
VISION FOUNDATION OF INDIA (VFI) is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation. The primary aim of VFI is to offer world-class, eye care services to the poorest of the poor of our society at completely free of charge.
The roots of VFI go back to 1993, on the formation of Bombay City Eye Institute Charitable Trust, which was renamed in July 2005 to VISION FOUNDATION OF INDIA.
VFI is doing considerable charitable work:
through its affiliated Apex Centre in South Mumbai, Bombay City Eye Institute & Research Centre
at the Institute's Secondary Eye Care Centre in Vashi, Navi Mumbai
• at VFI's Primary Rural Eye Care Centres in Gavhan and Giravale, both located in the Raigad District, Maharashtra State.
(For any specialized consultations or surgery, patients from these Primary Centres are referred to the above-mentioned Secondary Centre at Vashi. All treatment at the Vashi Centre is provided completely free of charge to patients from the Primary Centres.)
by way of Eye Surgery Camps held regularly in various parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Bihar
by reaching out to remote areas of Maharashtra and Gujarat with its Two Fully Equipped Mobile Vans.
Since 1993 our charitable works has reached to 1.5 lacs satisfied patients and we have operated more then 30,000 poor patients free of charge till March 2008. Every year we organize outreach surgical camps in needy areas of Gujarat, Maharastra, Bihar in association with local hospital and other philanthropic organization. This year we are supporting lot of charitable surgeries through partner eye hospitals in Maharashtra, Gujarat, M.P & West Bengal
Located at South Mumbai 60% of our charitable work are done through affiliated Apex Centre Bombay City Eye Institute & Research Centre which is the leading eye institute of western India. VFI is also the institutional members of Vision 2020, India Chapter and proudly championing the cause of preventable blindness in our country by 2020.
