Walking on the surface of the Moon....
Machuca, a village of 9 people located in the great Atacama Desert in Northern Chile..
about a 5 hours' drive from the nearest city (Antofagasta) & a 2 hours flight from Santiago.
According to NASA, the driest desert on the planet.
Mostly composed of salt "lakes", sand and felsic lava.
The soil has been compared to Mars. Due to its otherworldly appearance, the Atacama has been used as a location for filming Mars scenes, most notably in the TV series Space Odyssey: Voyage To The Planets.
The village has bathroom facilities, a church and a small hospice....
