    Hurricane Sandy on the UES

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     iReporter and filmmaker ShahirD shot this video of scenes from Sandy hitting the area around his Upper East Side, New York City apartment on Monday night. In the video, various shots show people pulled along by gusts of strong winds and police and firefighters assisting various people in need. "The situation seems calm now, and while the flooding was strong and people were asked to leave their buildings it seems now like the worst is over," he said. "People were generally calm and collected, there was a fairly good sense of humor about the situation. There's not much you can do about the weather!"

    Some footage edited from outside our apartment around the Upper East Side and Yorkville. Some fairly big gusty winds and flooding around here.
