    Hurricane Sandy Begins

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     KellyConner snapped several images of the deserted streets of New York, New York, as Superstorm Sandy came through. She says the neighborhoods were met with strong winds that brought down trees and branches. Chelsea Piers were 'practically unrecognizable, the normally low water had come up over the barricades and was flooding the sidewalk in waves.' Although she lived through Hurricane Irene, she admits this storm far exceeded what she experienced in the past. 'There wasn't nearly as much intensity, or damage from the storm,' she recalled.

PLEASE NOTE: Sandy is an extremely dangerous storm. We urge iReporters to take caution when documenting the storm and follow local guidance. For storm information specific to your area, please monitor warnings issued by your local National Weather Service forecast office.
