    17' surge destroys pier

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     usmm3311, a merchant mariner in Greenwich, Connecticut, went out to the docks this morning to see the effects of last night's 17-foot surge. 'No boats were lost of damaged but the pier sustained enough damage to make it collapse,' he said. While he has power at home, he said most of Greenwich does not.
