Bethune-Cookman University: March to the Polls

    B-CU My Vote is Priceless!

Students, faculty and staff gathered at the heart of Bethune-Cookman University’s (B-CU) campus wearing maroon and gold t-shirts with the slogan, “B-CU My Vote is Priceless!” printed on them. Students were led by university president, Dr. Edison O. Jackson from White Hall to the polling station at City Island Library.

The march was organized by the student-led B-CU political action taskforce to ensure all students exercised their right to vote. The students are supported by a progressive administration that understands the value of community involvement and inspires the students to be civically engaged.

Since his appointment, Dr. Edison O. Jackson has been committed to empowering students. “We told Dr. Jackson our plans to get the B-CU student body to march to the polls, and before we could ask him to participate, he offered to march with us,” said Jayson Douglas, B-CU political science major. “It means a lot to our student body to have the leader of our university actively participating in our initiatives.”

“Of course I marched with the students,” said Dr. Jackson “One vote will make a difference and this university’s founder, Mary McLeod Bethune taught the students to be civically engaged and we will maintain and support her legacy. ”

B-CU celebrated this historic day with more than two-thousand students, faculty and staff demonstrating the power of the B-CU voting block.
